Carol Lewis, Founder & Principal Consultant
Carol is a senior human resources practitioner, facilitator and consultant with a wealth of experience across different sectors and a particular interest in supporting not-for-profits organisations to thrive. She is recognised for her pragmatic, hands-on approach, realistic solutions and her ability to consistently deliver quality outcomes for her clients. Prior to The Human Equation, Carol’s experience included a variety of human resources and management roles within the private sector.
Carol’s qualifications include a master’s degree in Business (Employment Relations) from the University of Technology, Sydney and holds Cert IV in Workplace Training & Assessment. She is an accredited user the Californian Psychological Index (CPI), the MLQ 360 and the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Her professional development is supported by her membership of the Australian Human Resources Institute (Certified Professional) and the Career Development Association of Australia (Professional Member).
Joan Flatt, Senior Consultant
Joan is a highly experienced leadership coach with a passion for with individuals to enhance their ability to effectively manage and exceed their career expectations. Joan’s philosophy as a coach is to ensure that her clients receive the highest quality of career and leadership advice and support as you move forward in your career. Her human resources experience combined with her psychology background ensures that all her clients receive targeted, practical and relevant learning. Her coaching style is based on building a genuine relationship to inspire and motive individual growth and development and to encourage and challenge clients to reach their leadership potential and attain career goals.
Joan is also a highly effective career coach delivering individual services and outplacement packages.
Joan has tertiary qualifications in Psychology and Adult Education. She is certified to administer the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, and the ECR (an Emotional Intelligence Leadership Program). She also has Level 1 Certification from the Institute of Executive Coaching and is a Results trained coach with over 15 years of experience in the field.
Dr Trishima (Trish) Mitra-Kahn, Senior Consultant
Trish is a Senior Consultant with The Human Equation and specialises in organisational transformation and change management in the family violence sector.
She has worked for over 15 years in leadership and senior management roles in gendered violence across academia, systemic advocacy and government in Australia and the UK. Her roles have included: Deputy and Acting CEO at Domestic Violence NSW; Transitional Chief Executive Officer at the Luke Batty Foundation; Director, Research Program at Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety Ltd; Manager- Domestic Violence Strategy at NSW Department of Justice; and Program Manager at Australian Women Against Violence Alliance.
A sociologist by training, she has also been a researcher on sexual violence response & prevention projects for the UK Home Office and the European Commission. Trish is passionate about good governance in the for-purpose sector, she has previously sat on the Board of the Feminist and Women’s Studies Association UK & Ireland and is currently a Non-Executive Director at Down Syndrome NSW and Childhood Domestic Violence Australia. She has also held advisory positions on the NSW Premier’s Council on Homelessness, the NSW Mental Health Commission’s sexual violence committee, the NSW Women’s Alliance, Council of Social Services NSW, Equality Rights Alliance and 1800 RESPECT. Trish has strong experience using intersectional feminist frameworks to achieve quality outcomes for organisations and routinely volunteers as a feminist supervisor for the family violence workforce in NSW and the ACT.
